NWS Charleston, SC is responsible for producing forecasts of winds, seas, and weather for the nearshore waters of southeast South Carolina out through 20 nautical miles as well as north coastal Georgia out 60 nautical miles. Warnings and statements for hazardous weather such as strong thunderstorms and dense fog are also issued. In addition, forecasts are issued for the beaches from spring through fall along with watches/warnings/advisories when tide levels are high enough to cause saltwater flooding near the coast.
