Excessive heat returns for portions of the Plains today where heat indices will likely climb above the century mark. Furthermore, warm temperatures, strong winds and dry fuels may result in rapid spread of wild fires across the western High Plains today. The National Hurricane Center is currently monitoring an area of of low pressure across the Northwest Caribbean Sea. There is a medium (40%) chance of development over the next several days. Continue to check hurricanes.gov for more info.

Another warm day is in store across the region with highs generally in the 90s. Heat indices will climb into the 105-109 range which will promote a moderate to major heat risk this afternoon. Otherwise, isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible along the sea breeze again today.

Warm today across area beaches with a southeasterly wind. There is a MODERATE risk of rip currents both today and tomorrow. Dangerous swimming conditions will be possible, especially near piers and jetties. Be cautious when entering the water!

It will be mostly clear to partly cloudy and warm again tonight. Overnight lows will be in the mid 70s to low 80s range. Winds will be light and variable. A few locations along the Coastal Plains may experience some patchy fog after midnight.

High temps over the next several days will settle into the 90s. Can't rule out an isolated shower or storms along the daily sea breeze through the weekend. Rain chances increase next week as a cold front stalls to our north.
