Overview

Severe storms moved across northern North Dakota and into northwest Minnesota during the early morning hours of Sunday, producing mainly large hail. After a break in activity, a couple severe storms formed during the mid-afternoon hours east of the Red River Valley, producing large hail and even a tornado. Storms to the east of the NWS Grand Forks forecast area produced multiple tornadoes that afternoon.
