The remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy are forecast to move across the Mid-South starting late today through Friday night. Showers and thunderstorms will increase across the area tonight and Friday, with rain chances really ramping up on Friday as a cold front interacts with the tropical moisture . Heavy rainfall is becoming more likely across the region. As a result, there will be a potential for flash flooding tonight into Friday night.
A flash flood watch is in effect tonight through Friday evening for much of the Mid-South except Northeast Mississippi and parts of Northeast Arkansas. A few strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon through Friday evening as the remnants of Tropical Storm Cindy move through. Besides flash flooding short-lived weak tornadoes and damaging winds are additional threats. Spotter activation may be needed through Friday evening.
