Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall in the Southern Plains; Heat Continues in the West

Strong to severe thunderstorms may bring areas of excessive rainfall and flooding over parts of the southern Plains today through Friday. Hot to dangerously hot temperatures are forecast across portions of the Pacific Northwest and southern Great Basin today. Another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected Wednesday afternoon/evening. Some thunderstorms may be severe with damaging wind and large hail.
A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for the Wapiti Fire Burn Scar for Wednesday afternoon/evening. This includes backcountry locations throughout the Sawtooths and HWY 21 from Stanley to Lowman
