Tropical system in the Gulf expected to gradually strengthen the next couple of days off the Florida Panhandle and Alabama coasts. Temperatures will remain above-average today with many valley locations nearing 100 degrees. This heat can impact everyone without adequate hydration or cooling. If you're planning on being outside for any length of time today, plan breaks indoors or in the shade if possible.
Here are some helpful tips for beating the heat. Also, be careful on hot surfaces of cement and blacktop! Those can be much hotter than the air temperature!
It's important to know the signs of Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke, and what to do if you or someone around you begins to experience these.
