Above Normal Temperatures, Strong Thunderstorms, Tropical Development Being Monitored

Well above normal temperatures are forecast to shift from the northern Plains through the Northeast U.S. over the long holiday weekend. A few strong to severe thunderstorm will be possible as well along with a potential for excessive rainfall. Another round of snowfall is expected for Southcentral Alaska!
 

Moderate to heavy snow will move into Southcentral this evening and tonight. The heaviest snowfall amounts are expected from the Anchorage Bowl to the Copper Basin. Along with heavy snow, northerly winds and blizzard conditions will impact Thompson Pass. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibility which will likely impair driving into the morning commute.
