Heavy Rainfall Continues in Hawaii; Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall in the Plains and Southern Appalachians

Areas of gusty winds, heavy rain leading to flash flooding, and high surf continue across portions of Hawaii as Tropical Storm Lala continues to move away from the islands. Severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall will shift into the southern Appalachians today. April 4-8, 2022 is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  Iowa held an awareness week in late March.

 

Each day a different preparedness topic will be covered, including statewide tornado drills that are scheduled for Thursday, April 7th at both 1:45PM and 6:45PM.

On Thursday, April 7th, statewide tornado drills will be held at 1:45 p.m. CDT and 6:45 p.m. CDT.  Outdoor sirens may be used in some communities for the drill and NOAA Weather Radios will be activated using test wording.  We hope you can take advantage of these drills to test your action and shelter plans.
