Heavy Rain and Mountain Snow Lingers in California; Winter Storm Impacting the Great Lakes and Northeast U.S.

An atmospheric river will wind down through today across California with lingering heavy rainfall, heavy mountain snow, and gusty winds. A wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow will cause hazardous travel conditions for the Great Lakes into the northern Mid-Atlantic and southern New England today through Saturday morning. ...NOAA WEATHER RADIO TRANSMITTER NEAR MINOT TO EXPERIENCE NUMEROUS POWER INTERRUPTIONS INTO LATE NOVEMBER... Power to the transmitter will be turned off from time to time while a new communications tower is being constructed. The tower is expected to be finished by November 28th. If the power is off when a weather warning or weekly test is sent it would not pass through the transmitter site. Be sure to have alternate ways to receive emergency messages, like the National Weather Service web page at www.weather.gov/bis, through NWS social media, or through other local media outlets.
