Heavy Lake Effect Snow; Subfreezing Temperatures in the Eastern U.S.

A multi-day heavy lake effect snow event is expected downwind of Lakes Erie and Ontario through New Year's Day. ...NOAA WEATHER RADIO TRANSMITTER NEAR MINOT TO EXPERIENCE NUMEROUS POWER INTERRUPTIONS INTO LATE NOVEMBER... Power to the transmitter will be turned off from time to time while a new communications tower is being constructed. The tower is expected to be finished by November 28th. If the power is off when a weather warning or weekly test is sent it would not pass through the transmitter site. Be sure to have alternate ways to receive emergency messages, like the National Weather Service web page at www.weather.gov/bis, through NWS social media, or through other local media outlets.
