Extreme heat will continue in the interior Northwest into midweek before finally waning. Hot temperatures, dry, gusty winds, and isolated dry thunderstorms will bring critical fire weather. KMBX radar near Minot will be out of service starting at 730 AM CDT, Tuesday, May 24th, and is expected to return to service around 730 PM CDT, Wednesday, May 25th. This outage is to allow for a major system upgrade that is being performed on all National Weather Service radars across the country. Surrounding National Weather Service radars that may be accessed during this system upgrade include KBIS in Bismarck, KMVX near Mayville, and KGGW in Glasgow.
