Severe Storms in the Upper Midwest and Northern Plains Saturday; Increasing Heat Across the South

Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds, large to very large hail and a couple of tornadoes will be possible Saturday afternoon in the Upper Midwest and Great Plains. Stronger storms may produce heavy to excessive rainfall. Simmering heat will impact areas from the Southwest to the Gulf Coast and Southeast this weekend. Heat indices may exceed 100 degrees. Radar Data, NOAA Weather Radio, and Telephone Service to NWS Boulder Unavailable Tuesday April 19 2022

NWS Boulder will experience a planned power outage beginning early morning Tuesday April 19 and lasting through the day. During this time the following services from NWS Boulder will be unavailable:

  • NOAA Weather Radio-All Hazards in North Central and Northeast Colorado
  • KFTG WSR-88D (Denver) - Radar coverage from overlapping nearby radars in Cheyenne WY, Pueblo CO and Goodland KS remain in service
  • NWS Boulder telephones

Forecasts and warnings will continue uninterrupted, and will be provided by NWS Pueblo, who can be reached at (719) 948-9429.

The power outage is to provide necessary maintenance and repairs to electrical service. NWS Boulder is anticipated to resume operations Tuesday afternoon.
