Temperatures will be within a few degrees of average with elevated heat indices through the middle of next week. Only isolated chances of afternoon showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the Coastal Plains on Friday with a dry weekend for south central Texas.
The drought status has improved slightly due to recent rains, but the long term deficit in water from recent years means drought conditions continue across South Central Texas.
