Heat and Fire Weather Concerns in the West

Heat will build over the Intermountain West and the Southwest the next couple of days. Lightning from dry thunderstorms can create new fire starts and combined with gusty winds may cause a fire to rapidly grow in Oregon and northern California. Seasonably warm weather with occasional rain chances are forecast for the early parts of this week. The best rain/storm chances will be Monday and Tuesday, but isolated storms will remain possible into the later parts of the week. The 4th of July (Friday) should be dry for most, but there are low (10-15%) storm chances for those in the Big Country.
Temperatures will be on the rise late in the week and next weekend. Most of North Texas has a 40-70% chance of hitting 100 degrees and the western parts of Central Texas have a 30-50% chance late this week into next weekend.
