Prolonged, Intense Heat Wave; Excessive Rainfall in the Southern Rockies and Central Plains into the Upper Midwest

Extremely dangerous heat persists through Thursday with widespread daily temperature records. Monsoonal moisture continues to bring heavy rain and flash flooding to New Mexico and west Texas through Thursday, especially in the burn scar areas. Low storm chances will continue during the afternoon again Wednesday, but most of the area will remain dry. Lows tonight will drop into the 70s with highs in the 90s again tomorrow.
Hot weather will unsurprisingly persist through the weekend with afternoon highs climbing well into the 90s. Heat index values will reach the triple digits for most of the region by Sunday. Stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks in the a/c!
