A Red Flag Warning is in effect for areas near and west of the Interstate 35 corridor from 12 PM to 9 PM, due to very windy and dry conditions. AVOID outdoor burning. Never toss lit cigarettes on the ground and avoid any other activities that could start a wildfire!
A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of North and Central Texas through this evening following the passage of a strong cold front. Unsecured outdoor items may be blown around in the wind. Driving on area roadways may become difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Small tree limbs could break and cause damage.
1:50 pm Sunday: Boating is not recommended today! North winds of 25-35 mph with gusts to 45-55 mph are expected over most lakes this afternoon and evening. Please stay off the water, but if you are on the water reduce speed and head to shore, turning into the wind if possible to minimize the risk of capsizing.
It will fall to or below freezing for most of North Texas and parts of Central Texas as well tonight/tomorrow morning. In addition, wind chill values will be in the 20s tomorrow morning! Be sure to protect sensitive vegetation that has started to green-up and dress in layers as you head out in the morning!
A cold start to next week will be followed by a quick warm-up through midweek, with above-normal temperatures expected by Wednesday. It will continue to warm-up late in the week, with record highs possible on Friday!
The Hood County Severe Weather Education course is being held on Monday, March 16th at 6 PM. The course will be held at the Granbury Police Department in Granbury, TX, and is free and open to the public. No pre-registration needed!
