Prolonged Atmospheric River Will Impact the Northwest Early this Week

A weather system in the Pacific Northwest will produce rain throughout the day, before a potent atmospheric river produces a prolonged round of heavy rainfall, widespread urban and river flooding, and high elevation snow to the region Monday through Wednesday. Morning fog will persist through mid Sunday morning. A cold front this morning will bring a reinforcing push of cool air along with breezy north winds. Afternoon highs will be in the 50s to low 60s. A chilly night is expected Sunday night, with overnight lows falling into the mid 20s to mid 30s.
A warming trend is expected through the middle of next week, with above normal temperatures returning Tuesday through Thursday. A strong cold front will arrive on Friday, bringing cold temperatures back to the region. No precipitation is expected with the front.
