Last Map Update: Wed, Apr 8, 2026 at 6:10:47 pm CDT

Highs stay near to just above normal Thursday (upper 70s and low 80s). Shower and thunderstorm chances increase in/around the higher terrain west of the Pecos Thursday afternoon, especially near the Davis Mountains (chances range from 10-40%). Severe weather is not generally expected, though a storm or two could become strong.
Shower and thunderstorm chances begin to increase across the area Friday and continue through the weekend. A few severe thunderstorms could develop during this timeframe, particularly Saturday and Sunday. Flash flooding will also be a concern due to anomalously high atmospheric moisture. Questions still remain regarding the coverage, exact timing, and main concerns with these storms, so stay tuned for updates!
We will be holding another Skywarn presentation in Hobbs on Thursday, April 9th at 6:00 PM MDT at the Lea County Annex. This event is free and everyone is welcome to join! See some of you there!
