Snow Squalls May Impact New Year's Eve Travel from the Great Lakes to the Northeast; Heavy Rain Returns to California

An Alberta clipper will bring lake effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes, with the highest snow totals downwind of Lakes Erie and Ontario. Snow squalls may impact New Year's Eve travel during the evening and overnight hours across parts of the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, and Northeast. End of Frost/Freeze Products Until Spring 2019

NWS North Platte will no longer issue frost and freeze products as of October 11, 2018 for the remainder of the cold season. The growing season has come to an end across much of the area with lows this morning in the 20s across western and north central Nebraska.

Frost and freeze headlines are defined as frost advisories, freeze watches, and freeze warnings. Frost and freeze products will be issued again at the start of the next growing season in the spring of 2019.
