2019 SKYWARN Recognition Day

at National Weather Service North Platte for Radio Operators

The 2019 National SKYWARN Recognition Day starts Friday, December 6th at 6 PM CST and runs through Saturday, December 7th at 6 PM CST. The SKYWARN Recognition Day was developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the American Radio Relay League. It celebrates the contributions that volunteer SKYWARN radio operators make to the National Weather Service. During the day SKYWARN operators visit NWS offices and contact other radio operators across the country.

During SKYWARN Recognition Day the North Platte Progressive Amateur Radio Club will operate from the National Weather Service Office in North Platte, where the call sign is NE0NP.

When a threat exists for severe weather in Lincoln County the North Platte Progressive Amateur Radio Club activates. Their service provides a direct connection between the office and club members dispatched within Lincoln County, who then relay observed conditions from storms.
