Severe Thunderstorms in the Central U.S.; Record Temperatures Likely for Eastern U.S.

Several rounds of severe thunderstorms are forecast from the southern Plains to the Midwest today through Friday. Large hail, damaging wind gusts, and tornadoes are possible. A significant warm-up is expected for much of the southeastern U.S. and parts of the central U.S. into next week. March 4th Freezing Rain

 

 


 

 

Freezing rain began late in the evening during March 3rd and lasted through most of the morning of the 4th. Numerous trees were downed in Southeast Texas and some roadways closed during the event across the region. This winter weather event marked the 5th and final time frozen precipitation accumulated in the area during the winter of 2013-2014.
