Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall in the Southeast, Montana, and Iowa; Lowell Begins to Impact Hawaii

Strong thunderstorms with damaging winds and heavy rain are expected across portions of the Southeast. Thunderstorms may produce large hail across portions of Montana. Heavy rainfall could produce flash flooding across Iowa and vulnerable areas in Utah. Lowell will bring heavy rain, dangerous swells and rip currents to portions of Hawaii. March 4th Freezing Rain

Freezing rain began late in the evening during March 3rd and lasted through most of the morning of the 4th. Numerous trees were downed in Southeast Texas and some roadways closed during the event across the region. This winter weather event marked the 5th and final time frozen precipitation accumulated in the area during the winter of 2013-2014.
