Hot and dry conditions were noted across much of the state throughout most of August, 2025. This led to increasing drought conditions as well as burn bans and wildfire danger. Several locations experienced high temperatures of 100° or higher around the middle of the month, with some locations seeing a multi-day streak of 100° or higher temperatures. On August 19th, isolated thunderstorms developed across the state. With the intense heat in place, some thunderstorms produced microbursts which led to a few reports of damaging wind gusts.
The heat broke later in the month as a strong cold front moved through and brought some widespread rainfall and cooler temperatures to the state. This did lead to some locally heavy rainfall and strong thunderstorms on August 28th.
