.SUMMARY...
FEBRUARY 2021 AT PINE BLUFF WAS CERTAINLY A MONTH TO REMEMBER. AFTER
THREE CONSECUTIVE MONTHS OF ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES, READINGS TOOK
A NOSEDIVE, WITH FEBRUARY ENDING ABOUT TEN DEGREES BELOW THE 30-YEAR
AVERAGE, AND AS ONE OF THE COLDEST FEBRUARYS ON RECORD. THERE WERE
17 DAYS WITH LOW TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW FREEZING, WHICH WAS THE MOST
IN SIX YEARS. THERE WERE NINE DAYS WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW
FREEZING, WHICH WAS THE MOST DURING THE MONTH SINCE 1989, AND THE MOST
ON RECORD FOR FEBRUARY. THE PREVIOUS RECORD HAD BEEN SIX DAYS IN 1989
AND 1899.

FEBRUARY 2021 WAS ALSO A MONTH THAT SAW THE COLDEST TEMPERATURE SINCE
JANUARY OF 1966, AND ONE OF THE COLDEST TEMPERATURES EVER RECORDED DURING
THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY.

EVEN THOUGH RAINFALL WAS ABOVE AVERAGE, IT WAS THE DRIEST FEBRUARY IN TWO
YEARS.

FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2018, AND FOR THE FIRST FEBRUARY IN
SIX YEARS, MEASURABLE SNOW FELL. IN FACT, EXCESSIVE AND RECORD AMOUNTS
OF SNOW FELL.

.MONTHLY TEMPERATURES...
THE AVERAGE HIGH, LOW AND MONTHLY TEMPERATURES WERE ALL THE COLDEST SINCE
1978. THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS THE 3RD COLDEST ON RECORD. THE
AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS THE 5TH COLDEST ON RECORD, AND THE AVERAGE
MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS THE 4TH COLDEST ON RECORD.

THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE ALSO MOST RECENTLY TIED JANUARY 1948 FOR THE
10TH COLDEST ALL-TIME MONTHLY AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE ON RECORD.

AT PINE BLUFF SINCE JANUARY 30, 1966. OVER ALL, IT MOST RECENTLY TIED
JANUARY 12, 1962 FOR THE 6TH COLDEST ON RECORD. FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY,

FEBRUARY 2021 WAS ALSO THE SNOWIEST MONTH SINCE JANUARY OF 1966 AND
THE 2ND SNOWIEST MONTH ON RECORD.

THERE WERE THREE DAYS WITH MEASURABLE SNOWFALL, AND SEVEN DAYS WITH
ANY SNOWFALL (MEASURABLE OR TRACE).

ON THE 17TH, THE 12.5 INCHES OF SNOW RECORDED WAS THE HIGHEST DAILY
SNOWFALL AT PINE BLUFF SINCE MARCH OF 1892 AND THE 2ND HIGHEST DAILY
SNOWFALL ON RECORD. FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY, IT BROKE THE PREVIOUS
RECORD CALENDAR DAY SNOWFALL OF 7.2 INCHES, WHICH OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY
24, 1960.

AS FAR AS 24-HOUR SNOWFALLS GO, THIS MARKED THE HIGHEST 24-HOUR
SNOWFALL AT PINE BLUFF SINCE 12.5 INCHES FELL ON JANUARY 28-29, 1966
AND TIED THIS PERIOD FOR THE 2ND HIGHEST 24-HOUR SNOWFALL ON RECORD
AT PINE BLUFF. THIS ALSO BEAT THE PREVIOUS FEBRUARY RECORD 24-HOUR
SNOWFALL OF 7.2 INCHES, WHICH OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 24, 1960.

ON THE MORNING OF FEBRUARY 18TH, A SNOW DEPTH OF 18 INCHES WAS MEASURED.
SINCE RECORDS BEGAN IN PINE BLUFF, THIS IS THE GREATEST RECORDED SNOW
DEPTH IN THE CITY. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 14 INCHES, WHICH WAS RECORDED
ON MARCH 17, 1892.

.MISCELLANEOUS PHENOMENA...
WITH ALL THE SNOWFALL IN FEBRUARY, 2021 IS NOW THE 2ND SNOWIEST YEAR ON
RECORD AT PINE BLUFF. 1966 REMAINS THE SNOWIEST YEAR, WITH 25.1 INCHES.
ALL THAT IS NEEDED IS 6.6 INCHES OF ADDITIONAL SNOW THROUGH DECEMBER
31ST TO TIE WITH 1966.
