A very strong winter storm moved through the region on January 22 through 23, 2018. The storm brought very heavy snow and very strong winds to the area. Highest snowfall amounts ranged from 10 to 18 inches in northeast Nebraska, to as little as an inch in portions of southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa. Numerous roads were eventually closed in northeast Nebraska, with several stranded motorists reported near Norfolk and Stanton.
