Extreme Heat and Excessive Rainfall This Week

A significant heat wave is underway for the Intermountain West, Northern Plains, and Upper Great Lakes, peaking in intensity through midweek and lingering across parts of the Northern Plains and Midwest until this weekend. Heavy rainfall over frozen soil and rapid snow melt led to record river levels across several states. The map below shows the river gauges that had record crests during the March 13th - March 23rd time period. Each point is clickable and contains the new record information as well as flooding images at some sites.
