Tracking Storm System Across the Eastern U.S.

A storm system will continue to produce widespread showers and thunderstorms as it progresses eastward across the central U.S. into the Northeast through the weekend. There are risks of severe thunderstorms and excessive rainfall on Saturday from the Ozarks into the mid-Mississippi River Valley with potential for damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes, and flash flooding. A wind advisory is in effect for the Eastern Columbia River Gorge, Simcoe Highlands, and the Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon for Sunday. Winds will increase behind a cold front passage early Sunday morning, with sustained winds of 25-35mph and gusts 45-55mph in the areas under the advisory. Other areas will see winds generally 15-25mph with gusts up to 45mph as well.
