Locally heavy rain and flash flooding will be possible today into tonight near the Mid-Atlantic/Carolina coast. Storms with large hail and severe wind gusts are expected across parts of the central and northern Plains into the upper Mississippi Valley. Dry thunderstorms, and warm, dry, and windy conditions will produce fire weather conditions in parts of the Great Basin and northern Rockies. Read More >

SYNOPSIS:
An upper level jet continues to stream in moisture over the area. Western mountains will keep seeing light to moderate snow while some warmer locations are still seeing rain to a mix. However, this will eventually flip over to snow as a cold front will approach from the northwest this afternoon, and quickly pass through central and southeast Wyoming by Wednesday morning. Most of the precipitation is expected along this boundary, but a second punch looks to set up as a leeside low is expected to form after the front passes. This second punch looks to affect the entire region through Friday. A high wind warning also remains in effect for many areas until 11 PM tonight, but this may be extended as gusty winds are expected to persist through Thursday.
