THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN COLUMBIA HAS COMPLETED STORM
SURVEYS OF THE DAMAGE FROM THE SEVERE WEATHER ON SATURDAY MARCH 15 2008.

SEVEN TORNADOES OCCURRED ACROSS THE REGION SATURDAY ASSOCIATED
WITH SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS...

NEWBERRY COUNTY/PROSPERITY DAMAGE WAS RATED EF-3 AND HAD A 1/4 TO
1/2 MILE WIDE PATH. THIS TORNADO MOVED EAST AND CAUSED EF-2 DAMAGE
IN THE ELGIN AREA OF KERSHAW COUNTY. THE TORNADO CONTINUED EAST
INTO LEE COUNTY WHERE IT PRODUCED EF-1 DAMAGE.

DAMAGE NEAR LUGOFF WAS RATED EF-0. THIS TORNADO MOVED TO THE
NORTHEAST ACROSS CENTRAL KERSHAW COUNTY NORTH OF CAMDEN AND
CONTINUED TO PRODUCE EF-0 DAMAGE.

A TORNADO DEVELOPED NORTHEAST OF WINNSBORO AND MOVED NORTHEAST
ACROSS NORTHERN KERSHAW COUNTY AND EXTREME SOUTHERN LANCASTER
COUNTY. THIS STORM PRODUCED EF-1 DAMAGE.

A TORNADO MOVED FROM NORTHERN MCCORMICK COUNTY (EF-0) SOUTHEAST ACROSS
EDGEFIELD COUNTY (EF-1)...SOUTHERN LEXINGTON (EF-0)...ACROSS
NORTHERN ORANGEBURG COUNTY AND CALHOUN COUNTY (EF-0)...THEN ON
TO LAKE MARION IN CLARENDON COUNTY (EF-0). THE TORNADO WAS NOT
CONTINUOUS...LIKELY A SERIES OF TOUCHDOWNS ALONG ITS PATH.

A TORNADO MOVED FROM NORTHERN MCDUFFIE COUNTY EAST ACROSS NORTHERN
COLUMBIA COUNTY (EF-0) TO AIKEN COUNTY NEAR BELVEDERE AND
CLEARWATER. THE DAMAGE IN THIS REGION WAS RATED EF-2. THE STORM
MOVED SOUTHEAST TO BRANCHVILLE IN ORANGEBURG COUNTY WHERE IT
PRODUCED EF-3 DAMAGE.

A TORNADO DEVELOPED NEAR WRENS AND MOVED EAST INTO NORTHERN BURKE
COUNTY NEAR KEYSVILLE. THIS STORM PRODUCED EF-1 DAMAGE AS IT
MOVED SOUTHEAST A FEW MILES.

A TORNADO DEVELOPED NEAR WAYNESBORO IN CENTRAL BURKE COUNTY AND
MOVED SOUTHEAST TO NORTH OF SARDIS (EF-1).
