A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the Hill Country, Rio Grande, and I-35 corridor until 2 AM. This may be extended further in time overnight. A Tornado Watch is in effect for Val Verde County until 10 PM.
Scattered to numerous storms are expected to develop over west Texas and Mexico late this afternoon and move eastward toward the I-35 corridor by late tonight. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats, although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Always have a way to receive weather information!
A Flood Watch has been issued through early Sunday afternoon for our most northern tier of counties from the Hill Country eastward. There is the potential for storms late this evening and overnight that could produce rainfall from 1 to 2 inches, with locally higher amounts in excess of 3 inches which may lead to isolated flash flooding.
Here's a look at the potential timing of storms tonight. Some showers are possible ahead of these time windows. Not all locations shaded will see rainfall, however where storms do develop late tonight a risk for pockets of heavy rainfall, damaging wind gusts, and hail will exist. Additional chances for showers and storms will also occur during the day on Sunday.
Chances for showers and thunderstorms continue through Sunday. A few storms could become severe and produce locally heavy rainfall through late Sunday afternoon. Rain chances decrease Monday. Then, hot and humid conditions are forecast for the middle of next week.
