Overview

A quick-moving winter weather system brought 1-4" of snow to the area - and a focused, very narrow band of 6 to 8". The band was located from central Wisconsin, to just south of La Crosse, and along or near the Minnesota-Iowa border.  The radar loop to the right shows the intense snow band and how it remained nearly stationary Sunday afternoon.

These very narrow snow bands are difficult to forecast because not only does the narrow band need to form, but it also needs to remain stationary for a period of time to allow snow to accumulate more.
