Much of the rain has exited to our east this morning, with just a few lingering showers here and there. Amounts of a half inch or more were common from the Champlain Valley westward, while eastern Vermont only saw a few hundredths in places. Luckily, we're expecting more rain on Saturday, and the highest rainfall totals are expected to occur in those areas that missed out this time around.
Following two extremely wet summers, the meteorological summer (June through August) in northern New York and Vermont ranged from well below normal to extremely dry in some areas. Rainfall was 4 to over 7 inches below normal. While it was a warm summer, enough cooler intervals occurred to limit departures from normal to only 1 to 2 degrees.
