AUGUST 17

1932

Rainfall across the Niagara frontier was quite heavy in the mid afternoon; 0.27 inch rain fell in 15 minutes. Some streets and areas under viaducts were flooded, water being half a foot or more deep. Only minor damage resulted. A seaplane was overturned; two small fires occurred from lightning; and some electric lines were carried down by the wind. Coming after a week of dry weather, the soaking rains were beneficial to golf courses, crops, and vegetation.
