Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Across Portions of the Central and Eastern US; Heat Expands to Portions of the East

Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. 1994

A tornado touched down in Lockport in Niagara County. The tornado was on the ground only for short lengths along the path. Damage was mainly confined to one property where three large trees were downed and windows were blown out of a garage.

1998

Slow moving thunderstorms moved across the Rochester metro area producing two to four inches of rain in just a few hours. Widespread urban flooding occurred. The Monroe County Sheriff reported numerous roads closed across the south and southeast suburbs of Rochester.

2006

A warm front draped across the western part of the state and an upper air disturbance were the focus of thunderstorms that developed during the evening hours. The thunderstorms winds downed trees in Busti and Celeron. Pea to penny sized hail fell for five minutes in Holland.
