Western New York Weather History

FEBRUARY 25

1990

24th-25th…Intensifying low pressure over Indiana tracked east through Pennsylvania to Atlantic Coast and spread moisture across all of western and central New York. Snowfall amounts ranged from four to eight inches throughout the area. Arctic air crossing the mild waters of Lake Ontario also produced localized lake effect snowsqualls. New York State Police reported scattered downed trees and power lines. Roads were extremely icy in most areas.

1994

A strong westerly flow of cold air set up lake effect snow squalls over portions of Oswego County. The heavy snow combined with strong winds to produce blowing and drifting snow. In Oswego, seven inches of snow fell.

1995

A northwest flow of arctic air across Lake Ontario produced a narrow band of lake effect snow. The squall dropped over a foot of snow in less than 12 hours. Fourteen inches of snow was reported in Redfield.
