1959 Average wind velocity for the day was over 25 mph at the Buffalo airport. A peak gust of 93 mph was recorded at Niagara Falls airport. The wind caused injuries to at least 14 people and considerable damage to roofs, power lines and show windows. 1989 Deep low pressure over southern Ontario and its accompanying cold front brought high winds across Niagara and Erie counties of New York. Only minor damage and no injuries were reported. Winds gusted to 58 mph at Buffalo and 59 mph at Niagara Falls. 1997 15th-16th…Lake effect snows developed over Oswego county in a cold northwest flow across Lake Ontario. Amounts of six to eight inches were reported in Stokeshill and Redfield. Several automobile accidents were blamed on the slippery conditions and reduced visibilities. |
