MARCH 24

1930

24TH-25TH…Snow, rain or sleet fell in the northern part of Buffalo, the total depth of snowfall being 1.5 inches and mostly between 5:30 and 7pm. At the downtown office most of the precipitation was in the form of sleet or rain, there being but traces of snow. Sleet began to accumulate on trees, shrubbery and wires. Sidewalks and pavements became slippery late in the day. On the 25th, streets and sidewalks were covered with frozen rain, impeding traffic considerably in the morning. Ice one-half inch thick, formed on our storm warning tower on the roof of the telephone building in the early morning. In the afternoon, the ice on streets and sidewalks melted in part, resulting in somewhat less dangerous traffic conditions. Considerable ice accumulated on trees, shrubbery, wires, etc. during the 24th and 25th, but no particular damage resulted.
