MARCH 30

1960

MAR 27TH-APR 4TH…A rapid warmup the last week in March melted huge accumulations of snow causing local flash floods on smaller streams. A record high temperature of 69 degrees occurred on the 30th. Larger creeks like the Tonawanda and Ellicott went into flood stages. The Tonawanda set an all time high stage of 16.95 feet at Rapids in northern Erie county. Many roads were closed and families stranded by high water.
