Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of damaging wind gusts and hail are forecast across the Northeast U.S. and North Dakota today. Heavy to excessive rainfall is possible over eastern New Mexico into western Texas and over the western Florida peninsula today. A low of 7 degrees below zero at the Buffalo Airport broke the record for this date and was the coldest temperature ever recorded in the month of March. Other locations in western New York had temperatures of 10 to 20 degrees below zero.
