Above Normal Temperatures, Strong Thunderstorms, Tropical Development Being Monitored

Well above normal temperatures are forecast to shift from the northern Plains through the Northeast U.S. over the long holiday weekend. A few strong to severe thunderstorm will be possible as well along with a potential for excessive rainfall. A tropical or subtropical depression could form off the Southeast U.S. coast over the weekend while drifting northward to northeastward. Read More >

Snowstorm...only one inch of snow fell at the Airport however up to 10 inches of snow fell over portions of Chautauqua county.

1963

October 1963 was the second driest October in Buffalo in 93 years of record with total precipitation of only 0.30 inch. Ground water levels lowered so as to dry up some wells and streams. A ban on hunting was imposed and parks were closed. There were 23 consecutive days with no measurable rain and only three days with measurable rain. The average temperature of 57.1 degrees was 6.3 degrees above normal.
