Heavy Rainfall and Severe Thunderstorm Threats for the Plains and Southeast

A frontal boundary extending from the western High Plains to the Southeast will focus additional showers and thunderstorms this weekend. Some of these storms may become severe, alongside frequent lightning, and isolated instances of flash flooding. 1976 

Heavy, wet snow fell in Mayville and several inches were reported in Wyoming county on the 21st. More snow fell on the 22nd...up to 12 inches in Cherry Creek on the Chautauqua/Cattaraugus county border and 9 inches were reported from Little Valley. Schools were closed in Andover, Belmont, and Cuba in Allegany county. In many sections, the heavy wet snow overburdened tree limbs, toppling them onto power lines and triggering electrical failures.

1995

Heavy rains fells across the Eastern Lake Ontario counties causing the Black and Moose Rivers to overflow their banks. There was also some road and lowland flooding along "The Flats" area of the Black River in central Lewis county.
