Mother's Day

Mother's Day first became a national holiday in 1914, when President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation, which set aside the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. Mother's Day can fall between May 8th and May 14th. The highest temperature recorded on Mother's Day was 88F on May 10, 1953. The lowest temperature recorded on Mother's Day was 31 degrees set on May 12, 1963. Normally, the high temperature averages 68F degrees and the low 47F degrees on Mother's Day.

Snow on Mother's Day is rare, but on May 12, 1996 it snowed 1.1 inches at the Rochester airport.
