Heavy Rainfall and Severe Thunderstorms in the Midwest and Southwest; Heat Continues in the Southern U.S.

Heavy to excessive rainfall could bring flooding today through Thursday across parts of the central Plains into the Midwest and southern Arizona and New Mexico. Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms may impact parts of eastern Nebraska into western Iowa later today into early evening. Overview

A line of severe thunderstorms tracked across portions of eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois during the early morning of Sunday July 24, 2022. Storms produced mainly damaging winds along their path, with numerous reports of structure, tree, and power line damage from Buchanan County Iowa east into Jo Daviess County Illinois. The Dubuque County Airport measured a 67 MPH wind gust as storms passed.
