Areas of Excessive Rainfall and Severe Thunderstorms for Friday

Heavy to excessive rainfall may produce areas of flooding Friday and Friday night from central Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley. Isolated thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening across Central Texas where a warm and unstable environment will exist. Each storm that develops may be severe with large hail and damaging winds.
A cold front will bring additional chances for strong to severe thunderstorms to the region on Friday. Main threats will be damaging winds, large hail, with a lower tornado threat. Periods of heavy rain may also lead to a localized flooding threat, particularly for areas who have already received abundant rain.
After a precipitation-free weekend, rain chances will return to the forecast on Monday in Central Texas and Tuesday in North Texas. There is a potential some storms to be strong to severe, along with heavy rainfall. Continue to follow the forecast in the coming days!
