Above Normal Temperatures, Strong Thunderstorms, Tropical Development Being Monitored

Well above normal temperatures are forecast to shift from the northern Plains through the Northeast U.S. over the long holiday weekend. A few strong to severe thunderstorm will be possible as well along with a potential for excessive rainfall. Showers and storms will decrease through the evening with most precip gone just after sunset. No severe weather is expected, but gusty winds & lightning may accompany any stronger storms. Stay weather aware for festivities today!
Low storm chances will continue mainly west of I-35 this weekend. No severe weather is expected. The cloudy skies and rain will keep temperatures near to below normal with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.
After the holiday weekend, high pressure will dominate with highs climbing into the mid and upper 90s next week. Heat indices ("feels like" temps) will reach the triple digits. Rain chances will be very limited with many areas remaining rain-free the entire week.
