It will be another hot and humid afternoon with highs in the mid 90s and heat index values between 100 and 105 degrees. There is a slim 10% chance for thunderstorms in parts of Central Texas this afternoon, but most areas will remain dry. Take steps to protect yourself from the heat if spending time outdoors.
A weak front will approach the area late tonight into Friday which will bring scattered thunderstorms to parts of North Texas overnight through Friday afternoon. Gusty downburst winds and frequent lightning are possible.
A cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms to much of the area from Sunday into Monday. A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible with a threat for strong downburst wind gusts. Plan for possible disruptions to outdoor activities due to nearby thunderstorms.
The first extended stretch of summertime heat and humidity is underway. Make sure you're taking proper precautions to avoid heat-related illness if spending time outdoors this week.
