Overview

Scattered thunderstorms developed during the late evening of Monday, March 30th. The strongest of these storms produced swaths of hail up to 2" in diameter across central portions of the Chicago metro.

Thunderstorms redeveloped during the morning of Tuesday, March 31st. A few of these storms grew strong enough to produce up to ping pong ball to golf ball size hail, mainly across the southwest Chicago suburbs and in Ogle County, IL.

One final round of storms affected parts of the area during the afternoon of March 30th. No reports of large hail or damaging winds were received from these storms, though a few storms produced small hail, gusty winds, and locally heavy rainfall.
