Storm chances will hold off until this evening, with the potential increasing quickly after dark. A loosely-organized complex of storms is expected to move into West Texas from northeastern New Mexico, progressing southeastward throughout the nighttime hours. Locally heavy rainfall will lead to a risk for isolated flash flooding. The severe weather risk is low.
Another muggy night is expected, with storm chances lasting through the predawn hours, especially on the Caprock. Winds will be light and variable, with mild temperatures.
Storm chances will continue both Saturday and Sunday evening and overnight, with temperatures gradually heating up heading into next week.

Local Weather History For August 2nd...
1995: The remnants of Tropical Storm Dean produced six to ten inches of rain in Childress and Collingsworth counties. At
the Highway 83 underpass in Childress, water reached depths of ten feet and stranded a trucker who had to be rescued by
boat. Highway 287 from Childress to southeast of Vernon had to be closed. Also, several secondary roads in Hall county
were completely washed out.
