The severe weather and tornado outbreak of April 23, 2026 in northern Oklahoma, is a significant meteorological event for the NWS Norman forecast area. The event was characterized by a combination of strong tornadic activity, large hail, damaging wind gusts, and localized flash flooding. The event was most notable for a destructive, long-track tornado that struck Vance Air Force Base and southern portions of the city of Enid. Other tornadoes were confirmed in Grant and Kay counties
NWS teams conducted damage surveys on April 24, 2026, and approximately 6 tornadoes are in the process of being documented and rated. A final assessment and results of the survey are expected to be completed and transmitted via a Public Information Statement on April 27, 2026. As of 3:08 pm CDT on April 24, 2026, EF-4 damage has been documented with the tornado that struck Vance AFB and Enid, OK.
