Hail, Damaging Winds, and Tornadoes Possible Monday

Severe thunderstorms on Monday will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, hail, and tornadoes. While the entire region will have a potential, the highest potential will be east of the Blue Ridge. A lesser risk of severe storms is for this evening over portions of southwest VA and northwest NC. Overview

Slow moving front, with several waves of low pressure, and a persistent southwest flow of moisture set the stage for several rounds of moderate to heavy rain. This rain was already falling on saturated soils, which made flooding a realization.
