Hail, Damaging Winds, and Tornadoes Possible Monday

Severe thunderstorms on Monday will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, hail, and tornadoes. While the entire region will have a potential, the highest potential will be east of the Blue Ridge. A lesser risk of severe storms is for this evening over portions of southwest VA and northwest NC. Overview

Hurricane Ida made landfall in southeast Louisiana on August 29 as a Category 4 hurricane. The remnants of Ida slowly moved northeast, reaching the Tennessee Valley on August 31 and crossing the central Appalachians into the Mid Atlantic September 1. Two EF-1 tornadoes were spawned by the storm over Montgomery County. Despite the general 1 to 3 inches of rain, with local amounts up to 4+ inches, flooding was limited to urban/small streams.
