Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
213 AM EDT Tue May 12 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Tuesday will be dry, with minimum RH's mostly in the 30% range.
Another cold front tracks through the area on Wednesday, bringing
showers and thunderstorms. More dry weather to follow for the end
of the week, and by Friday, minimum RH's will generally be
between 20% to 35%, and above 40% for the mountains, as high
pressure settles in over the area. However, with the recent and
upcoming rainfall, there are no fire weather concerns at this
time.

Temperatures will be a few degrees below normal, but begin a
warming trend Friday and continuing into the weekend, and
temperatures rise into the 80s and near 90 by the beginning of
next week.
