Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
258 AM EDT Sat May 16 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Dry conditions look to remain across the majority of the region
through early next week. Minimum RH values will mainly be in
the 30s and 40s through Monday, 20s and 30s Tuesday, then
increasing midweek as precipitation chances return in large part to
an approaching cold front from the west. The front looks to bring
the region's next chance for a widespread wetting rainfall.

Temperatures warm over the weekend into next week with some
record heat possible Monday and Tuesday. Overall, fire weather
concerns remain low for much of the area at this time, but will
continue to be monitored.
