Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
206 AM EST Sun Feb 1 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Gusty northwest winds today, with gusts 30 to 40 mph possible, up
to 50 mph in the mountains of the southern Blue Ridge. Upslope
snow showers linger through midday in the mountains.

With Arctic air holding in place during the weekend, snow and
ice melt will be minimum to none during this time. Temperatures
will stay below normal into next week, so any melting will be
limited. Fire danger is expected to remain low through the first
full week of February. There is potential for another round of a
wintry mix of precipitation during the middle of the week.
